### Introduction

Hi, I'm Sarel Myburgh. Welcome to my blog.

I am currently studying towards a [Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity](https://www.open.ac.uk/courses/computing-it/degrees/bsc-cyber-security-r60) from the [Open University](https://www.open.ac.uk/), slated to graduate in 2025.

I worked as a computer technician for four years, and have been in the education sector since 2015. In that time, I steadily worked my way up from ESL teacher in rural Thailand to Deputy Head of School in a large international school in Cambodia. However the silicon beckoned me back, and now I am working in that same school as a cybersecurity specialist.

### Professional Statement

I am a problem solver and IT enthusiast who loves change and new things, which is what draws me to cybersecurity. My experiences in the international education sector allows me to communicate complex concepts in ways any layman can understand, as well as collaborate with people from all walks of life. I believe that 90% of the world's problems can be solved through education, and do what I can to train and teach people around me.
